I'm glad you liked it. Thanks! :) one of my favourite writers?? Not exactly. I know only 3 of his stories, though I loved all 3 of them. I was just in a particular situation and the image suddenly flashed into my head and seemed apt... writing the poem was an act of catharsis :)
first stanza's interesting, promising, and has a rhythm that makes you read ahead to see how the rest of it's gonna work. the second is somewhat simplistic, sounding prayer-like, but i can understand the sentiment.

Until my nose is red".
That's as far as I can remember the last 2 lines, and they are really affecting, in the sound and the sense.
The thorn and the nightingale are pretty classic (if not classical) images too.
